The Wayne Business Association (WBA), which was established in 1939, is not only a vital resource for the commercial vigor of Wayne but also for the community as a whole. One way that the WBA gives back to the community is through a series of local business scholarships. One, the High School Scholarship Award in the amount of $1000, is given annually to a deserving and eligible high school senior. This individual must be employed by a member of the Wayne Business Association and must be enrolled to study at a college or university.
Nominations are made by a WBA member in good standing and winners are chosen based on scores that evaluate attitude, reliability, teachability, ability to work with others and more.
This year’s scholarship was bestowed on Lauren Balabon, a recent graduate of Conestoga High School and employee at Braxton’s Animal Works. Lauren was nominated by Braxton's because she has been such a valuable part of the team, has a great positive attitude and upbeat personality.
The Scholarship was awarded to Lauren by Diane Jiorle, WBA President and LuAnne Lunger, WBA Secretary. Congratulations to Lauren and good luck next year at college.
