Have you ever wondered what happens to the companion animals of active service men and women? How can they ensure that their pets will be taken care of while they are away, and that they can be reunited with their pets when they return?
The Military and Veteran Pet Foster Home (MVPFH) Program was developed and implemented in January 2005 for active duty military service members whose units have received orders related to a combat or peace-keeping, humanitarian missions, wounded warriors, and veterans with unforeseen medical and/or homeless hardship situations. This program is intended to assist those defined above in locating and placing their pet in a foster home within their Foster Home network.

So this Memorial Day, consider giving of yourself to thank the men and women who have given so much for us by fostering a military companion animal, volunteering at organizations that help military families, or donating money for supplies. It is truly a way to remember the sacrifices of our troops.
