Here are some tips for traveling with your pet.

#1: Fresh water is most important for your pet when traveling in the summer heat.  And now it’s easier than ever to bring water for your pets in travel bottles that not only carry the water but flip open into a bowl for drinking. Just squeeze the bottle to fill the bowl and it’s ready to be lapped up (add a little ice to keep it cool). The lightweight bottle folds back into the bowl which locks it and prevents leaking. You can take it along no matter where you go – hiking, biking, beach, etc.  - it has a belt clip and fits in standard bike water bottle holders.

#2:  Don’t leave home without your pet having an ID tag or collar. In fact you can actually have tags made up with your cell number or temporary vacation address to make sure your pet can be returned as quickly as possible. One more detail - take along a photo of your pet with his/her name on it in case you need to show others who can help you find your lost family friend.

#3: Smart phones, iPhones and Droids, have many Apps that can store veterinary information, meds, vaccinations, microchip numbers, identification data, allergies, etc as well as Apps that can locate dog parks, pet-friendly hotels, groomers, pet supply stores and more. Many are free on iTunes and the Android Store. Add information before taking off so you have all the vital pet information in case of any emergency while away. Also, contact your vet for a referral of a veterinarian local to your vacation spot.

Traveling with your pet can be fun for you and him/her if you plan, pack a bag for him and be ready for the unexpected. Find out more tips for traveling with pets at Braxtons.com or come into Braxton’s - we’d be glad to help you with all your pet travel needs.
