Whether you stay in a known area or travel to a new one, walking with your dog is essential for their health and, in turn, your own. There are limitless locations where you may go walk with your dog, from local footpaths to sandy beaches! Since Fall is fast approaching, temperatures are becoming perfect for hiking and travel with your pets. We wanted to go over some tips on how to find great walking areas and suggest a few of our favorites in the Wayne, PA area.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Make sure you do your research before taking Fido out for a walk! First and most importantly, check to see if the place is pet-friendly. If not, then it's time to turn around and head back home. Furthermore, be certain to ascertain if there are any rules and regulations in place at the location where you will be walking your dog. For example, some trails may require you to keep your dog on a leash whereas other options allow them to be off leash. The number one rule for walking your dog is to always clean up after them. It's not only common courtesy, but it also helps keep trails clean!

COME PREPARED

Before you embark on your outdoor adventure with your furry friend, make sure to pack their essentials in case of any rule violations or emergencies. Before leaving for your walk, make sure you have everything you need to take care of your pup. This includes bringing their leash and/or harness, a few poop bags, extra water and a bowl, treats, and food for longer adventures.

WALKS SERVE DUAL PURPOSES

Whether you're walking along the beach, a park, or on a trail in the woods, remember that taking your dog for a stroll not only keeps them active but also gives them the opportunity to smell and explore. If you're ever short on time, getting a few steps in for both you and your pet is still essential. However, it's also important to let them smell all the scents and explore different places. By doing so, this allows valuable bonding time between you and your dog(s). They'll love you even more for it!

STAYING LOCAL

If you want to stay local, try exploring one of your nearby walking trails with your furry friend. In many locations, there are dog-friendly walking trails that are wider and more scenic than a typical sidewalk. However, some trails can be busier than others, so it’s always encouraged to be respectful of other walkers, dogs, bicyclists, and more. We provide a large selection of natural, nutritious treats in a variety of tastes, textures, and sizes to detract your dog from these distractions.

We love the Radnor Trail! Also known as the P&W trail, it runs along what was once part of the Philadelphia & Western Railway Company track that was first used in 1907. This trail is 2.4 miles long, extra wide to accommodate many types of travelers, scenic, and ends right outside Braxton's ;)

GOING ON AN ADVENTURE

Adding some excitement to your dog's walks is a great way to keep them healthy and happy. Going on an adventure together is the perfect solution! Finding your dog's new favorite walking spot might take some time, but it's critical since you want to ensure that you bring your pooch somewhere where they're allowed. Exploring a new destination with your canine companion may lead to an exciting encounter and plenty of cherished memories.

We love the Pocono Mountains and the Jersey Beaches! Both provide very different sceneries and elevations and are mainly dog friendly.

Discovering new places can be so much fun for you and your pet! And not to brag, we live in such a beautiful part of the country that is great to explore! What's you and your pet's favorite place to explore? Make sure to drop suggestions in the comments for other pet parents! Happy walking!
