Thanksgiving is the perfect time to appreciate all of the blessings in our lives, especially our pets. After all, our pets provide love and companionship and ask very little in return. Most pets are happy to have food, water, shelter, and a family who loves them. And even though they sometimes demand to be petted or to be given treats, in the end, that’s not much to ask.
The following are some of the reasons that we should be thankful for our pets on Thanksgiving and every day of the year.
1. Loyalty: Pets can be some of the most loyal friends we will ever have. Not only do they stand by our side, but they also wait patiently for us to return home.
2. Comfort: Our furry friends keep us company and as an added benefit, they keep us warm in the winter.
3. Laughter: Pets have a way of doing unexpected and strange things that often result in hilarious consequences.
4. Protection: Whether it’s dangerous intruders or simply pesky pests, pets help keep our homes safe from unwanted visitors.
5. Health: Having a pet can lead to lower blood pressure and a healthier heart because they can relieve stress and improve our mood.
6. Calmness: Pets can help to keep us social and support us when we are feeling down. Their presence alone helps to relax us.
7. Purpose: Pets can make us feel needed. Caring for another life has been proven to benefit those suffering from depression.
8. Love: Pets provide unconditional love. They don’t care what you look like or what you do for a living. They just love you.
So let us not forget our furry friends who bring us so much joy each and every day.
