Heading to the NJ Shore with your pet for the 4th of July? Be aware the new NJ dog car safety statute 4:22-18  includes a “click-it-or ticket” law for animals who are unrestrained in vehicles. This means that owners, who do not have their dog secured with a seat belt or place their cats and dogs in a carrier that is buckled down, can be stopped by the police or animal control officers and issued tickets for $250 to $1,000 per animal.

The law is due to a fatal accident that was caused by a dog that jumped into the lap of the driver and blocked his vision.

If you need help purchasing a seat belt for a dog or carrier for your pet, stop by Braxton's and speak with an associate. For more pet travel information, click here.
