The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has declared April “Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month.” During this time and throughout the year, people are urged to educate themselves and others about existing animal cruelty laws and to support pending legislation.

Braxton’s Animal Works is requesting the assistance of the eyes and ears of the community to report any and all suspected animal abuse or neglect. In order to do that, one must be familiar with the Pennsylvania State Animal Cruelty Laws.

Locally, the Delco SPCA, works to end companion animal homelessness and suffering through adoption, cruelty investigations, community programs, and affordable medical and behavioral services.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the Delaware County Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Delco SPCA) was established in 1911 with the original purpose of providing watering troughs for work horses around Delaware County?

Today they care for and adopt out rescued pets from overcrowded shelters – placing a record 3,272 homeless pets in 2013.

So join the ASPCA for April’s “Go Orange for Animals” campaign—to improve the lives of animals in every corner of the country. Go Orange! Glow Orange! Show Orange for Animals! You could tie an orange ribbon on your animal, car, or even your hair. For other "Go Orange" suggestions, click here.
