Ahh, the holidays! Although the holidays are supposed to be a time for food, fun, and celebration, often the change in routines and hectic schedules can become overwhelming. With all of the distractions and planning, it is easy to forget your furry companions. Follow these tips to make the holidays more relaxing for everyone, including your pets.
- Routine: Follow your pet’s daily routine as closely as possible.
- Compensate: Take your pet for a long walk before you leave for a holiday party so that he is content to rest while you are away.
- Time Out: If you are hosting a party, be sure to provide a quiet room with plenty of food and water for your pet to escape the noise and confusion of the evening.
- ID: As guests come and go, the possibility of an escape increases. Be sure your pets are wearing identification and pay close attention to the door.
- Veterinarian: Keep your veterinarian’s number handy just in case of an emergency.
The holidays can be a wonderful time of year especially if you take care to stick to a routine and don't forget to show a little extra love and affection to those furry companions.
