Now that the kids are back in school and their fall sports have begun, your pet may feel a little neglected. Wouldn't it be great if you could take them to all of your family's events.  Unfortunately, this isn't the case. Most school and athletic fields have no pet signs posted.  With the kids away all day and not returning home until late in the evening, your pets are cooped up in the house and begging for attention as well as exercise.  It is easy to forget their needs at this time since you are busy running kids, making dinner, and helping with homework.  Sure it would be great to get up earlier and walk  your dog or make sure to take them out in the evening, but if that is not possible, try some of these alternatives.

5 Suggestions to be sure your pet is not feeling neglected.

  1. Doggie Daycare.  Consider taking  your doggie to a daycare where he/she can socialize with other dogs and not feel so alone.
  2. Pet Walkers.  Try a pet walking service.  This is a great alternative when you are not home for lengthy periods during the day.
  3. Treat Release Toys.  Food toys are a wonderful way to occupy and enrich your dog's life while you are gone.
  4. Dog Parks.  Check out local opportunities for  you to enjoy the outdoors with your furry friends.
  5. Pet Friendly Day Trips. The Philadelphia area has several wonderful doggy day trips.

Just remember when you feel stressed, so does your dog.  Make it a priority to spend relaxing time with your dog each day.  They will be happier and so will you.
